Performance
There will be two engine options to choose from on the Bison. Standard is the 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Also available is the 3.0-liter Duramax® diesel that has been retuned to offer an estimated 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to the power upgrade, the Duramax® engine comes with a few other improvements. These include:
- New fuel injectors
- New steel pistons
- Retuned turbo compressor
- Enhanced temperature control features
The Bison comes standard with some of the same features as the ZR2. These features include:
- Multimatic 40-millimeter DSSV spool-valve dampers
- Front and rear e-lockers
- An off-road calibrated chassis and suspension
- Uniquely tuned springs
Capability
When compared to the standard Silverado 1500, the ZR2 Bison has greatly improved off-road capabilities. The front approach angle has been increased to 32.5 degrees, while the departure angle has improved to 23.4 degrees. It has a ground clearance of 11.2 inches.
To help you feel more confident while tackling tough terrain, the Bison is equipped with 3-millineter-thick steel front and rear bumpers with heavy-duty recovery points. The rear bumper comes with integrated step pads for easy bed access, while the front bumper comes standard with vertical front tow hooks and is compatible with an available winch accessory.
To protect the underbody, the Bison comes with five press-hardened boron steel skid plates. This steel is three-and-a-half times stronger than cold-stamped steel plates.
Technology
While the Silverado ZR2 Bison may be working hard outside, inside, you can ride in comfort with all the latest technology features at your fingertips. This starts with a 13.4-inch central touch screen. This is equipped with the latest Chevrolet Infotainment system along with wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The Silverado ZR2 Bison is also equipped with an enhanced Google voice control system. Use simple commands to set a new navigation destination, play your favorite music, or connect with family and friends.
There are multiple USB ports throughout the cabin so everyone can stay powered up. You can also stay connected to your favorite people and apps thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi® system. With a data plan, you can connect up to seven devices at once.
If you enjoy an immersive listening experience, you will love the seven-speaker Bose® premium audio system.
Also standard in the Silverado ZR2 Bison is a 12.3-inch reconfigurable digital instrument cluster. You can choose what vehicle information you want to see in the cluster. There is also a standard head-up display. This will help keep your eyes on the road by projecting vital information directly in your line of sight on the windshield.
Design
The Silverado ZR2 Bison differentiates itself from other Silverado trim levels with its matte-black panel on the tailgate, a Chevy “flow tie” front emblem, body-colored grille bar in contrast to the all-black grille design, and AEV and Bison badging inside and out. With its rugged nature, the Bison comes with all-weather floor liners to help owners keep the floors clean.
The Multi-Flex tailgate comes standard on the ZR2 Bison. It rides on gloss black 18-inch wheels wrapped with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.
