Every service visit is different, which is why we offer several transportation options based on your repair needs and vehicle availability.

How the Loaner Program Works

What to Expect, Step by Step

  1. Schedule your service appointment and let your Service Advisor know you may need a loaner.
  2. When you arrive, we’ll check loaner availability based on your repair and that day’s fleet.
  3. If a loaner is available, you’ll sign a short loaner agreement and provide your driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  4. We’ll do a thorough walk-around inspection of the loaner together before you leave, noting its condition.
  5. Return the loaner when you pick up your repaired vehicle, or when your Service Advisor lets you know it’s ready. We’ll do a matching walk-around inspection at that time.

Loaner Vehicle Eligibility

To qualify for a loaner vehicle, customers should generally:

  1. Be at least 21 years old
  2. Present a valid driver’s license
  3. Provide proof of current full-coverage auto insurance that extends to a temporary replacement vehicle

Insurance and Liability

Because a loaner vehicle is part of your service visit rather than a separate rental transaction, we require proof of current full-coverage auto insurance that extends to a temporary replacement vehicle before a loaner is assigned. Please notify us immediately if the loaner is involved in an accident or sustains damage while in your possession. Your personal insurance is typically the primary coverage while you have the vehicle. If you have questions about your coverage before your appointment, we recommend confirming with your insurance provider that your policy extends to temporary replacement vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Booking & Availability

Do I need an appointment to receive a loaner?

Appointments are highly recommended. Scheduled appointments receive priority when assigning available loaner vehicles.

Is a loaner vehicle guaranteed?

No. Loaners are subject to availability and are assigned based on the type of repair and expected repair time.

Using the Loaner

How long can I keep the loaner?

The loaner is available while your qualifying repair is being completed. Our service team will keep you updated if repair times change.

What happens if my repair takes longer than expected?

We’ll keep you updated throughout the repair process. Loaners are generally available for up to 30 days if a repair runs that long. Anything beyond 30 days requires an exception through General Motors, which your Service Advisor will help coordinate.

Insurance & Damage

Is my insurance required to cover the loaner vehicle?

Yes. We require proof of current full-coverage auto insurance that extends to a temporary replacement vehicle before a loaner is assigned.

What happens if the loaner vehicle is damaged while I’m using it?

Please notify us immediately if the vehicle is involved in an accident or sustains damage. Your personal insurance is typically the primary coverage while the vehicle is in your possession.

Returning & Buying

Can I bring my loaner vehicle back after service hours?

Yes. We offer convenient after-hours vehicle returns. Your Service Advisor will provide instructions for returning the loaner if your schedule doesn’t allow you to return during normal business hours.

Can I purchase the loaner vehicle I’ve been driving?

Yes. You can purchase the loaner you’ve been driving once your service is complete or after 10 days. See “Retired Loaner Vehicles for Sale” above for more on how that works.
